ESOL Teaching - Give it a Go for Refugee Week (21st June)

Join us for this special Give it a Go volunteering role for refugee week, Friday 21st June 1pm-3pm. Help to teach English to new arrivals, refugees and asylum seekers.

Overview of Project

Learn for Life Enterprise is a community hub based in the culturally and ethnically diverse area of Sharrow in Sheffield. We look after vulnerable and hard-to-reach members of the community. Many come to us as new arrivals to the city from all over the world, and are often refugees and asylum seekers. Our objective is to engender successful social integration for them, and thereby promote community cohesion and resilience. We do this by providing teaching, support, stability and advice in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.

This Role Involves

Join us for this special Give it a Go volunteering role for refugee week, Friday 21st June 1pm-3pm. We are looking for volunteers to help refugees and asylum seekers learn English in Sharrow and online by Zoom. We have classes from pre-entry (beginners) up to Level 2 / IELTS as well as conversation classes.

Skills/Experience Required

Friendly and willing to help. No prior experience required. Confidence in talking to new people one to one or in small groups.

You will be helping to welcome and integrate new arrivals into the city. You will be providing refugees and asylum seekers with the opportunity to practice their English language skills.
