NUS Delegates (4 places)
The National Union of Students (NUS) is a voluntary membership organisation of 600 students' unions and through their member students' unions, they represent the interests of more than seven million students nationally.
NUS Students' Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of the NUS. It brings together delegates from students' unions across the UK who are affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.
As a delegate you will represent students from Sheffield Hallam University on a national stage.
The 2021 NUS Conference is in Liverpool from April 12th - 13th You must be available on these dates. (It is possible the conference will take place digitally if covid precautions require it. If the conference does take place in-person, accommodation, transport and food costs will be covered).

Faculty Academic Rep - Social Sciences and Humanities
Working with Course and Department Reps, you'll ensure that students in Development and Society have a voice within the Students' Union and the University. As a full member of rep committee and Union Council, you'll have a budget to run events and campaigns that benefit students in your Faculty and play a part in cross organisational campaigns.

Student Trustee (3 places)
A Student Trustee sits on the trustee board of Sheffield Hallam Students' Union which is the highest governing body of the Students' Union. In this role you will help contribute to the collective responsibility for the overall governance and strategic direction of Sheffield Hallam Students' Union. You will also enhance the student voice and provide a student perspective on the Sheffield Hallam Students' Union's Board of Trustees.
Student Trustees are full members of the Board of Trustees, weighing in on the big decisions about the organisation’s financial and strategic direction. They gain experience of financial management and business leadership, while providing a student perspective on the decisions made. It's a powerful position that can affect all students at Hallam and the future of the Students' Union.
This role would suit people who are reliable, organised and take responsibilities seriously. You would be required to read detailed Board papers before meetings, take the time to understand complex issues, and contribute actively to Board meetings. Support will be available and no previous experience is required, but having the right attitude to the role and an understanding of its importance is crucial.

Union Council Chair
As Union Council Chair, you will hold elected officers and representatives to account and ensure the Union delivers on its policy commitments. You will chair meetings of the Students' Unions highest decision making body, and will be a key member of the representative team. You will need to remain impartial and be able to chair complex issues neutrally, being a voice of reason and fairness on all matters.

Union Council Open Space Representatives (6 places)
As an open space member of Council you can shape policy for the whole Students' Union by attending and voting at Union Council meetings.
Union Council is the highest democratic decision-making body at the Students' Union. As a member, you will have a significant role in shaping the organisation's direction and beliefs. Unlike most members of Council, you will not have responsibility for representing a specific demographic - your role is to provide an alternative or additional student perspective to its work.
There are typically 3-4 Council meetings per year, so the time commitment is fairly low unless you choose to get more actively involved in policy creation and development.
There are SIX Open Space roles available on Council, so you've got a great chance of being elected in this role!
