Since opening its doors in October 2023, our Cost of Living Shop has become a support space for students on tighter budgets in the face of rising costs.

Over 900 student interactions
From everyday essentials to small but vital home comforts, nearly 1,000 interactions have taken place in only a matter of months - proof that the shop is meeting a real and ongoing need.
746 items donated and taken = just under 100 donations each month!
That’s hundreds of items reused, repurposed, and appreciated. Whether it’s books, clothes, or accessories, this swap-and-support model is helping students help each other.
Over 1,000kg of food redistributed
That’s more than a metric tonne of stock kept out of landfill and redirected into student hands. We’re proud to be making a difference not just socially, but environmentally too.
Over £2,500 in estimated retail value given back to students
This isn’t just about giving items of clothing or free food away for the sake of it, it’s about easing financial stress, especially during tough times. Every free item is one less expense and, for some students, that can make all the difference.
As our shop continues to grow, so does the need for more volunteers - it’s not too late to get involved. Volunteers help with everything from sorting donations and restocking shelves to chatting with visitors and keeping the space welcoming.
