We are deeply saddened by the death of Nottingham Panthers ice hockey player Adam Johnson during a match against the Sheffield Steelers at the Utilita Arena on Saturday.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Adam's family and friends at this time.

In light of this deeply upsetting news, we've been in touch with our student team, the Sheffield Bears, to offer support to them and the ice hockey community at this incredibly difficult time.

We understand that Hallam students were in attendance and will have found the incident very distressing. We encourage students to look after one another and to seek support if needed.
