Struggling to afford expensive art supplies? We've got you covered! Our new Art Materials Swap Shop, located in our Cost of Living Shop at the HUBS, is here to help you access the materials you need without breaking the bank.
Why it was created
Students raised concerns that additional course costs for materials are much higher than expected - so much so that some have had to skip meals or even search through bins to find supplies. We knew something had to change. That's why we've set up a sustainable, affordable way for students to get creative without the financial stress.
How it works
- Swap: Exchange materials on a like-for-like basis (e.g. a paint pallet for a sketchbook).
- Purchase for low-cost donations: No item to swap? You can take an item for a small donation (starting from just 20p!). All monetary donations go straight back into the shop to continue supplying students with art materials.
- Donate: Got materials you no longer need? Drop them off to help out another student!
What you can find
From paintbrushes and fabrics to easels and MDF boards, there's a wide range of creative materials available. Everything is first-come, first-served, and stock depends on donations - so check in regularly!
