PRES is a UK-wide online survey gathering feedback about the experiences of postgraduate research (PGR) students.
This is your opportunity to tell the University what you like about Sheffield Hallam and what you feel could be improved, so they can improve the PGR experience.
For every survey response, the University will donate £3 to Student Minds.
Survey closes Friday 9 May 2025.
How to take part
PGR students will receive an invitation by email when the survey opens - keep an eye on your inbox!
If you've lost this email, please contact postgraduatesurveys@shu.ac.uk for your individual survey link.
Why take part
In response to feedback, the Uni invests in what matters to you and improves the areas you think could be better.
Based on previous PRES feedback:
- New PC desktops, docking stations, and adequate storage were provided after students in EBE, Materials & Engineering Research Institute (MERI), and Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre (BMRC) requested upgrades to spaces.
- Student website profiles were prepared and uploaded after being requested by students. New profiles will continue to be uploaded as and when submitted.
- 'Getting the best from a Conference' workshop was provided after students requested training and information on conference attendance. Student research budgets were also increased to £1200 per year allowing greater contribution to conference attendance and outreach activities.
- 'Planning your Thesis and Writing' training session, including discussions around a 'monograph versus article based' approach, was provided after students requested information on publications and expectations.
