Alongside those to promote our society, the students' union and university, we host a range of different performances throughout the academic year. Our first and longest running concert is held at Kelham Island Museum's Victorian Christmas Market, where we bring out the most loved Christmas tunes as well as some all time favourites, such as Doctor Who and How to Train Your Dragon. During the Varsity season, we play in a Battle of the Bands competition against University of Sheffield's Music Players' Society, which we have now won three years in a row! Lastly, at the end of the year, we hold a small concert for friends and family to showcase everything we have achieved.
We also like to incorporate a fundraising aspect to some of our performances to give back to the Sheffield community, having previously worked with local charities, such as Roundabout Homeless Charity, Anthony Nolan's Sheffield Marrow and Support Dogs Charity.
For those who wish to get to know each other better, make some great friends or just have some fun, we hold regular socials outside of our rehearsals. In the past, these have included meals out, escape rooms, pantomines, laser quests, Ninja warrior and much more!
Our rehearsals are held every Thursday 7-9pm in the Common Room at the HUBS and are run and organised by the committee as well as our fantastic conductor, Jamie, who has been a core part of our society for a number of years now. We aim to be playing by 7pm, so please arrive with plenty of time to set up your instrument, have a catch up with other members and get your music ready.
