If you are an international student and receive an email from the Student Immigration Compliance team, we can help.
I'm required to attend a meeting with the UKVI/student immigration compliance team
If you are an international student and receive an email from the Student Immigration Compliance team at the University giving you a formal warning of withdrawal from your course of study, it is important that you read and engage with the email and attend the meeting.
The meeting will involve sitting down with someone from the Student Success and Engagement Team, who will have a conversation with you about any attendance or engagement concerns that have arisen. Due to visa and UKVI requirements, the University need to ensure that you are engaging with your course, therefore they have invited you to a meeting to discuss anything that may be affecting your attendance. They will also want to ensure that you are okay, and aware of the support that the University has to offer to help you engage with your studies.
You will therefore need to be able to explain anything that has prevented your engagement with your course. If you have any evidence that you can show them too, then that may be useful to have to hand.
The staff member that you speak with will then ask you to sign a form to confirm that you understand that attending your course and fully engaging with your studies is important for your visa and UKVI requirements.
We do not typically attend these meetings, however if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us, or the Immigration Compliance team at studentimmigrationcompliance@shu.ac.uk.
