What is Welcome?

Welcome, or 'Freshers', refers to the first few weeks of uni where the focus is on settling in, having fun, and meeting new people (there will be lots more of this after Welcome too, don't worry!).

We organise loads of events and activities during the Welcome period, making it easy for you to make new friends, get to know your surroundings, and have a good time.

What type of events are on in Welcome?

By day, expect freebie, society, sport, volunteering, and part-time job fairs, plus indie pop-ups, low-cost taster activities, and more.

Where do the events take place?

Our Welcome events are hosted at the best venues across Sheffield - they're a great way to familiarise yourself with the city and discover popular student spots.

How do I sign up for events?

Many of our events are free to attend, but you'll still need to book a ticket for entry.

Is there a Freshers wristband I can purchase?

The Hallam Freshers' AAA Pass will get you access to 14+ of the best freshers parties across Sheffield, in partnership with Organised Chaos. Plus, you'll get a free t-shirt! Limited stock available.

I don't drink alcohol and club nights aren't my thing - what are my options?

Don't worry - Hallam Welcome is about so much more than partying! In fact, we have a whole programme of events and activities that don't involve alcohol or clubbing.

And if you do fancy hitting the dance floor, our Freshers parties offer great non-alcoholic alternatives too!
